Stock management software for your shop
Knowing what you have left, what sells, and what ties up your money. Stock management is three simple questions — and a spreadsheet answers them badly.
Stock follows sales, on its own
This is the difference from a notebook or a spreadsheet: here, stock updates with each sale. The seller rings up, and the product quantity drops within the second. You have nothing to re-enter in the evening.
You then set a low-stock threshold per product. When stock falls below it, the app flags it: you reorder before running out, instead of discovering it in front of a customer.
See the money tied up
Stock is not just quantities: it is money sitting on shelves. By entering the purchase cost of each product, the app calculates the tied-up value — what your stock represents, and what is no longer moving.
That is what lets you sort unsold items by money locked up rather than by quantity, and decide what to clear first. The method is detailed in the guide spotting and clearing dead stock.
Shop stock management, not a warehouse
Let's be precise about the scope. MerchantHQ manages the stock of a retail shop : one or several shops, one stock per shop, and tracking as sales happen.
It is not warehouse software (WMS) or a supply-chain solution: no batch management, no expiry dates, no automatic supplier orders. If your need is a simple shop stock, linked to the till, it does the job; for warehouse logistics, no.
Attached to the till, not separate
Stock management is not an isolated module: it is inside the till itself. Stock, sales, customers and staff share the same app, on a tablet, and work even offline. Prices are on the Pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Does stock update on its own with each sale?
Yes. Each sale automatically decrements the product's stock. You do not enter outgoing items by hand, as with a spreadsheet.
How do I know when to reorder a product?
You set a threshold per product. When stock falls below it, the app shows it — you see what to reorder before running out, not after.
Can I see the money tied up in my stock?
Yes, provided you enter the purchase cost of each product. The app then calculates the tied-up value: what your stock represents in money, and what is sitting idle.
Is this warehouse software (WMS)?
No. MerchantHQ manages the stock of a retail shop: one or several shops, one stock per shop. It is not a multi-warehouse WMS: no batches, no expiry dates, no automatic supplier orders.
